On Monday, July 31, 2023, the Minister of Finance, Ken Ofori-Atta, delivered the mid-year budget review in Parliament. This presentation was initially scheduled for July 25, then postponed to July 27, and finally took place on July 31.
During his address, Mr. Ofori-Atta revealed that Ghana is currently making modest progress in revitalizing its economy, which had faced severe hardships in 2022. He candidly referred to 2022 as the most challenging year of his tenure as Finance Minister.
Furthermore, the Finance Minister emphasized the government’s dedication to pursuing a robust growth strategy within the country’s limited fiscal space and a fiscal consolidation program aimed at fostering economic prosperity.
